SÂLMON< is a festival organised by El Graner and Mercat de les Flors. Since it is a festival run from El Graner, the old light bulbs factory in La Marina, its artistic content is commissioned by Cristina Alonso and Elena Carmona and its communication is carried by Raquel Tomàs. This festival is made possible by all the artists involved, all the departments of Mercat de les Flors and all the visible and invisible teams of the collaborating spaces and collectives.
SÂLMON< is an opportunity to contemplate the scene that emerges when artists offer their work to the world. This is the present. It is not a question of producing discourses, legitimizing styles or affirming ideologies: we are aware that the present is not found in what we already know. So this time around,
SÂLMON< aims to be a space for listening. Of course, it is also a performing arts festival, but above all, it is an opportunity, a radical invitation to meet up today with other people, with the artists and their work. A festival is a kind of vortex where imagination, desires, ideas and experiences converge. All this inevitably creates an ephemeral but extraordinarily rich ecosystem; or what amounts to the same thing, a great opportunity to beat time at its own game. You only have to be brave, go there and listen: this is the present and these are its fascinating repercussions.
Lovers of the most risk-taking, innovative, dynamic and even off-the-wall performing arts cannot afford to miss this festival. The sixth edition of SÂLMON, headed by the Mercat dels Flors, features a packed two-week program showcasing a range of formats by both local and international creatives who work under the system of artistic residencies. This year the festival offers performances by artists such as Amalia Fernández, Ana Borralho i Joao Galante, Associació Blink Flash, Javier Vaquero i Streetjizz, amongst many others, who will congregate to bring us their imaginary worlds, desires, ideas and experiences.
